CLUB COMPETITIONS

1.      CYCLE TIME TRIALS

BEST ALL-ROUNDER COMPETITIONS

Competitions are held annually to decide the Best All-Rounder Champions. These competitions are open to all First Claim Members. The competitions comprise one each for Men, Ladies, Juniors, Juveniles and Veterans and are decided on the basis of the fastest average speed over the following distances, except in the case of Veterans where it is based upon the fastest Age Standard (VTTA system).

Men 25, 50 and 100 miles

Ladies 10, 25 and 50 miles

Juniors 10, 25 and 50 miles

Juveniles 10 and 25 miles

Veterans 25, 50 and 100 miles

The Club also holds a Short Distance Best All-Rounder Competition comprising the two best performances at 10 & 25 miles and one at 50 Miles. There are two competitions, one for Men and Women and one for Veterans.

EVENING 10 MILE COMPETITIONS

Competitions are held annually to decide the Evening 10 Mile Champions. These competitions are open to all First Claim Members. The competitions comprise one each for Men, Ladies, Juniors, Juveniles age 14 to 16, Juveniles age 12 to13 and Veterans.

The competitions are decided on the most points gained in any 10 events in the Club Evening 10 Mile Programme held from April to August. Points are awarded for the placing in each category, 5 points for 1st place down to 1 point for 5th place and all finishers. Placing for these competitions is defined as the placing in each category in relation to other Bognor Regis CC first claim members, except that in the Veteran Category the points shall be awarded on fastest Age Standard (VTTA system).

OPEN EVENTS COMPETITION

A Competition is held annually to decide the Open Events Champion. This competition is decided on the basis of the most points gained in Open, Semi-Open and Association Events.

Points are awarded for the placing, 120 points for 1st place down to 1 point for 120th place. In the case of specific events for Veterans, the placing shall be awarded on Age Standard (VTTA system).

Any number of events may be ridden.

CLUB EVENTS COMPETITION

A Competition is held annually to decide the Club Events Champion. This competition is decided on the basis of the most points gained in Morning Club, Inter-Club and Combined Clubs’ Events.

Points are awarded for the placing, 5 points for 1st place down to 1 point for 5th place and all finishers. Placing for this competition is defined as the placing in relation to other Bognor Regis CC first claim members.

Any number of events may be ridden.

2. CYCLE ROAD RACING

ROAD RACING COMPETITIONS

Competitions are held annually to decide the Road Racing Champions. These competitions are open to all First Claim Members and comprise one each for Men, Ladies, Juniors and Juveniles. The competitions are decided on a points basis. Points are awarded for the placing in an event from 1st place down to 6th place with 1 point for finishing.

3. TRACK RACING

TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

Competitions are held annually to decide the Track Champions. These competitions are open to all First Claim Members and comprise one each for Men, Ladies, Juniors and Juveniles. The competitions are decided on a points basis. Points are awarded for the placing in an event.

4.      CLAIMS & CLOSING DATE

Club Members are asked to let the Time Trial Secretary have details of all times recorded in Open Events throughout the racing season to ensure the trophies are correctly awarded. You may be entitled to an Award but the Time Trial Secretary will not be able to tell you if you do not let him have details of your times. The Closing Date for qualifying events is 21 October in each year

All claims for awards, club trophies and club records must be submitted to the Time Trial Secretary not later than 31 October of the current year.

CYCLE TIME TRIALS - NATIONAL COMPETITIONS

CYCLING TIME TRIALS (CTT) - NATIONAL COMPETITIONS

National Best All-Rounder Competitions are held annually and are open to First Claim Members of the Bognor Regis Cycling Club based upon the fastest average speed over the following distances or times;

Men 50 and 100 miles and 12 hours.

Ladies 25, 50 and 100 miles.

A Junior Competition is held annually based upon the two fastest performances at both 10 and 25 miles. Any Junior may take part in this competition until the end of the racing season in which he or she reaches his or her 18th birthday. All competitors who attain an average speed of 23 mph or more for males and 21 mph or more for females receive a certificate.

For younger members, CTT promote the 10 Mile GHS Championship which is open to persons who are under the age of 17 on 31 August in the year of the competition.

CTT promotes National Championship Events at 10, 25, 50 & 100 miles; 12 & 24 hours and a Hill Climb. Full details of these events and other national competitions can be found in the current CTT Handbook.

V.T.T.A - NATIONAL COMPETITIONS

The Veterans’ Time Trial Association (VTTA) holds a National Veterans’ Best All-Rounder Competition annually based upon the fastest Age Standard (VTTA system) over the following distances or times;

Men 25, 50 and 100 miles and 12 hours

Ladies 10, 25 and 50 miles.

In addition, the VTTA holds a National Three-Distance Competition over 25, 50 and 100 miles.

The VTTA promotes National Championship Events at 10, 25, 30, 50, & 100 miles and 12 & 24 hours

These competitions are open to members of the Bognor Regis Cycling Club who are also members of the VTTA. Members normally join the Wessex Group of the VTTA and are then eligible for the VTTA Wessex Group Competitions mentioned under County and District Competitions.

CYCLE TIME TRIALS - COUNTY AND DISTRICT COMPETITIONS

CYCLING TIME TRIALS - SOUTH DISTRICT COMPETITIONS

South District Best All-Rounder Competitions are held annually and are open to First Claim Members of the Bognor Regis Cycling Club. These competitions are decided on the fastest average speeds over the following distances;

Men 25, 50 and 100 miles

Ladies 25, 50 and 100 miles

Juniors Two fastest performances at

both 10 and 25 miles.

All times must be recorded on "P" Courses listed in the current CTT Handbook

In addition, South District runs a Points Competition based upon the placing in Open Events on "P" Courses and a South District 25 Miles Championship Event.

VTTA WESSEX GROUP COMPETITIONS

The VTTA Wessex Group Best All-Rounder and Three Distance Competitions are incorporated into the National Best All-Rounder and Three Distance Competitions. In addition the Wessex Group runs a Short Distance Competition over 10, 25 and 50 miles, based on the two fastest Age Standards (VTTA system) at 10 and 25 miles and the fastest Age Standard at 50 miles.

The VTTA Wessex Group promotes Championship Events at 10, 25 & 50 miles.

SUSSEX CYCLISTS’ ASSOCIATION COUNTY COMPETITIONS

County Best All-Rounder Competitions are held annually and are open to First Claim Members of the Bognor Regis Cycling Club. These competitions are decided on the fastest average speed or Age Standard (VTTA system) over the following distances or times;

Men 25, 50 and 100 miles

Ladies 10, 25 and 50 miles

Veterans 25, 50 and 100 miles

Juniors Two fastest performances at

both 10 and 25 miles.

All times must be recorded in any Open Event promoted by the Sussex Cyclists’ Association (SCA), the East Sussex Cycling Association (ESCA), the Southern Counties Cycling Union (SCCU), or any Club affiliated to the SCA, or in an Open Event which takes place partly or wholly in Sussex.

The Sussex CA also hold a Middle Distance Competition over 2@ 10 miles, 2 @ 25 miles, and 1 @ 50 miles: a Short Distance Competition over 3 @ 10 miles 3 @ 25 miles; a Sussex CA Events Points Competition and a Sporting Courses Competition (SPOCO). All these competitions are open to First Claim Members of the Bognor Regis Cycling Club.

The Sussex CA promotes County Championship Events at 10, 25, 50 & 100 miles; and a Hill Climb. In addition, there is a Team Championship at 25 Miles.

CIRCUIT, ROAD AND TRACK RACING

BRITISH CYCLING (BCF) - NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

National Championship Events are held annually for Circuit, Road and Track Racing.

Sophie Terry was the under age 12 years National Girls Criterium Champion and the under age 10 years National Circuit Race Series Champion in 2002.

BRITISH CYCLING (BCF) - DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

South East Division Championship Events are held annually for Circuit, Road and Track Racing

Liam Terry was the Junior Divisional Circuit Race Champion in 2002

and

Gyles Wingate was the Youth Divisional Circuit Race Champion in 2002.

AWARD SCHEME FOR YOUNG CYCLISTS

The Club runs an Award Scheme for young cyclists under 18 years old. Times recorded in Open, Semi-Open, Association or Club Events will count for this Award Scheme.
