THE GOODWOOD CLASSIC HILLY TIME TRIAL
The Club has seen many changes since it was
formed 75 years ago and has promoted many events during that period and continues to do despite a dwindling number of volunteers. Unfortunately it became necessary to reduce the number of events the Club could promote
effectively. It was decided that we should concentrate our limited resources
on club events rather than open events so we could provide facilities for both our own members and members of local clubs
for events on a regular weekly basis. This meant it would be necessary to give up promoting some of our long standing open
events such as the Goodwood Classic Hilly Time Trial.
As other clubs have a similar problem with
a dwindling number of volunteers and we were fearful that this classic event could disappear from the racing calendar. Fortunately
Southdown Velo expressed a wish to continue to promote this event and its members were able to achieve a smooth handover and
promoted an excellent and well organised event.
