THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMPETE

The Club has very active Time Trialling participants with a number of events promoted each year. Members also participate in Road & Track Racing (mass start) events locally and further afield. We have a full listing of all the Club Time records over varying distances if you want to set yourself a target

For new members who have not raced before we offer sound advice based on years of experience by club members who have been highly successful in their own right. As with all Clubs we encourage not only participation in races but also help behind the scenes (course signage, timekeeping etc) so that everyone is involved in all elements of the racing scene.

To find out more about the BRCC racing programme please contact the Event Secretary. or visit our Facebook page where current activity is posted.  Members are advised to join this group to keep up to date on the latest news.

IT NEVER GETS EASIER - YOU JUST GET FASTER!

TIME TRIALS

What is a TT?

An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock on flat or rolling terrain, (in French: contre la montre – literally "against the watch"

Starting times are at equal intervals, usually one or two minutes apart. Competitors are not permitted to draft (ride in the slipstream) behind each other. The rider with the fastest time is declared the winner

The BRCC Approach

At time trial events across the country you will always find those who take the sport very seriously, special ultra-light and aero bike frames, skin suits, slip stream helmets and the latest in cycling tech all to shave those extra few seconds off their time.

We embrace this and each event is run strictly according to the governing rules. But we also feel that this is aspect of cycling sport should be open to everyone, and we encourage anyone to take part. Whatever level of cyclist you are and whatever equipment you own you are welcome to enter and take part in this exciting field of competitive cycling

Novice TT

Each year we host a novice's time trial event. This is designed for anyone, especially young riders, who have not entered a competition like this before and want to give it a try.

You don't need a time trial bike or any special equipment, a roadworthy bike and a helmet is enough to try out this wonderful cycling discipline.

There are categories for those on road bikes with no experience so there is a 'level playing field' for all.

The Rules

All Competitors in BRCC organised Time Trials ARE required to start on cycles fitted with FLASHING Rear Lights incorporating a minimum of 3 L.E.Ds. Riders ARE also required to wear a Hard-Shell Helmet complying with an internationally recognised safety standard.

In a nutshell -

NO LIGHTS

NO HELMET

NO RIDE

NO ARGUMENT!!
